Medications and conditions combining to cause a level of impairment, whether mental or physical, may include:

  • Lithium, an anti-psychotic drug prescribed for severe mental disorders
  • Respridol
  • Interferon, prescribed for hepatitis
  • Prednisone, a steroid used to treat a variety of ailments including asthma
  • Depacote, treat seizure disorder medication, adhd, bipolar disorder and other conditions
  • Soma, Percoset, Morphine, or other pain medications used to relieve chronic pain from herniated disks and other conditions
  • HIV drugs
  • Chemotherapy medications for recurrent cancer

The Administrative Law Judge will determine whether the documented side effects are so severe that you are not able to work at a Significant Gainful Activity (SGA) level. In 2005, this means being able to earn at least $810 a month. Another factor considered is the period of time involved. If you are unable to work for at least twelve months, you may qualify for benefits.

It is important to begin your application for benefits as soon as you realize you may be unable to work for several months, so a start date is established. Our attorneys help clients with the initial application process and through all appeals, if necessary. Our fees are regulated and paid by the Social Security Administration, and we only collect if you recover benefits.
